The 35th Annual Ukrainian Village Music Fest, 2021: The Pioneers were proud to be the main sponsor of this event as the the Friends of the Ukrainian Village Society switched their annual music festival to a virtual format for 2021. The video of event is available here:

Save UCAMA’s Archives and Collection: Pioneers supported this Ukrainian Canadian community project led by the Ukrainian Canadian Congress – Alberta Provincial Council that aimed to save numerous museum, library, and archival collections of the Ukrainian Canadian Archives and Museum of Alberta, and actively participated in the work of a Special Committee. The UCC-APC report on the project is available online.

Pioneers supported Sanctuary Project, which documents the sacral culture on the Prairies through photographs and interviews. This work was conducted by John-Paul Himka, Francis Swyripa, and Natalie Kononeko. The next phase of the project will produce a digital database accessible to scholars, students, and members of the general public. Audio interviews conducted for the project are already accessible through the University of Alberta online digital repository ERA A+V.

Mykola Woron Library and Archives, in Calgary. Pioneers supported their professional cataloguing of the large library. The online catalogue of the Library is now available online.

Pioneers supported the production of an exhibit and a catalogue by the Kule Centre for Ukrainian and Canadian Folklore at the University of Alberta entitled “Love Letters from the Past – Courtship, Companionship and Family in the Ukrainian Canadian Community.” Click here to see the online version of the exhibit.

On September 21, 2019, Pioneers sponsored a festival of poetry and music “Horsemen of the Word”, at the Warwick Hall, north of Vegreville.  It featured readings by Harvey Spak, Peter Christensen and William H. Hudson, as well as music by Marango Pie. Listen to the radio ad of the event.

“Ukrainians in Quebec”, a La Maison de Montage Luhowy documentary. Pioneers purchased 14 English and six French-language versions of the video history and paid for the mailing of complimentary Educational DVDs to libraries in Alberta.
